Entrepreneur of Impact 2026 - Day 1, Round 3: Unexpected Impact and Standings

Sometimes impact is unexpected—and trajectory changing.

At the Abilities Expo in Chicago, when we first really put NULU in front of a broader audience, I saw something that changed how I think about the product. Up to that point, the design was centered around my own needs and upper extremity limitations.

Then someone walked up, picked up the knife, and started using it in ways we hadn’t even considered—different angles, different approaches, all based on what worked for his body.

That moment shifted everything.

It made it clear that the impact of NULU was bigger than what I had originally designed for. It wasn’t just solving my problem. It was creating something adaptable enough that other people could make it work for them.

That’s what still drives us—paying attention to how people actually use it and letting that shape what we build next.
